Clinical Services
The Section of Nuclear Medicine has the following functions:
- Provide all the diagnostic procedures needed in a general Nuclear Medicine set-up with emphasis given to oncologic Nuclear Medicine procedures, including PET-imaging and theranostics.
- Provide radioimmunoassay procedures and interpretations.
- Provide radionuclide therapeutic procedures. Nuclear Physicians are committed to treat diseases responsive to radioactive materials administered internally, including but not limited to the use of I-131 in hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.
- Provide bone densitometry (DXA) procedures and interpretations.
- Participate in the educational and training programs for physicians, physicists, chemists, pharmacologists, and technologists to enable them to understand Nuclear Medicine principles and procedures, applications, and indications in the clinical setting.
- Conduct research in the field of Nuclear Medicine especially in oncology.
- Participate in lay education programs directed to inform the general public and the beneficial uses and safety of Nuclear Medicine.
